 A headhunter also called an executive recruiter is an individual or company that provides recruiting services on behalf of the company. They are hired by a company to recruit candidates for an open vacancy.

Headhunter may have a pool of candidates or may actively work to find talent. They are usually hired if the company is unable to find the right person and are paid only if they are successful in placing the candidate.

How does a headhunter work?

1.    The processes start at the employer. The HR writes up a description of the post and the candidate required. This includes soft and hard skills as well as the personality of the candidate required.

2.    The headhunter then looks for an exact match. The word "Exact" is essential as they are hired to streamline the hiring process not to make it more complex.

As a headhunter looks for the exact candidate, they cannot help if you are a new company on the market. They are also not useful to fill junior positions in a company.

4.    Improve your sales skills. Top executive headhunters are capable of selling anything. To become one of them, learn the technique of sales, read books, focus on personal development and communication skills. You need to push yourself and be confident in front of your employer.

5.    Focus on your candidates. Even though you are employed by a company, focus on what the candidate needs before making your final decision to ensure a smooth working life for them later on.

6.    Adopt a modern, technological approach.

Great recruiters can connect with top talent and become the company's vision. To become great, manage your time, work harder and enhance how you approach a candidate. This alone will put you at an edge.
